The Orchard

Wonderful house in a very picturesque setting. Well equipped. We had a great stay there and would like to come back. The welcome pack of biscuits, coffee etc was a really nice and welcome touch. Only minor notes are the mattresses are VERY hard, but mattresses are a preference rather than a negative. And it would have been nice to be left a couple more bin bags.

The Orchard was well above our expectations. Down a track into the countryside but close to Cramlington, Morpeth & Newcastle , it provided extensive and well appointed accommodation for our extended family (adult son, Married daughter & husband, baby & toddler & my wife and self). There was plenty of space for toddler to toddle and a large garden to play in. Plenty of space and equipment in the kitchen to self cater but take aways and restaurants close at hand. & well equipped utility room to avoid needing to pack a week or 2 week's clothes and separate upstairs suite for 2 of us. For those not in on the secret, Northumberland is a wonderland for families and couples with indoor and out door activities everywhere, loads of great pubs and restaurants, shops in Morpeth that will satisfy mort and a coastline and countryside to die for. Added to that, blue sky and comfortable early 20 degree temperatures gave an amazing escape from the southern England tropics in July 2026!

The issues mentioned above were minor for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our break. Positive: Beautiful property in a peaceful location. Negative: I think it is worth mentioning that the TV reception was quite erratic as at times; the screen froze and it just kept spoiling!!! This didn’t affect us too much, but some people may find it difficult. Maybe it’s because the house is in a remote reception area? We also felt that for a property offering accommodation for 8 (we were 7) supplying just two bin bags was insufficient.

Well maintained, clean, modern property would highly recommend Positive: Quiet location, great directions from host. Local products left as a welcome gift, great to be able to a tea or coffee after a night shift locally. Negative: Nothing, great experience and property.
